Last week’s election results were formally finalized this Monday by Sumner County Commissioners.
The updated totals included all write-in votes, but did not significantly change any of the results posted last week. The new numbers did tell us who all the winners were in races where the ballot wasn’t full, such as the Milan, Mayfield and Viola city races.
The picture does look a little different in the Conway Springs mayoral race, but the outcome is unchanged. Daniel Petegrew won a new term with 155 votes. Write-in Timothy Sones was second with 78 votes, and William Fuller received 18 votes.
In Milan, the city council will consist of Michele Norris, Joan Wise, June Williams, Roger Ray and Norma Jones. No other candidates received votes.
In Mayfield, the council members will be Clinton Gulick, Steve Metzen, Jeff Mortimer, William Cowels and Nathan Metzen. Again, no other candidates received votes.
In Viola, the city council winners were Shane Beebe, Debra Devlin and Brad Farmer. Beebe received 20 votes and Devlin had 19. Both were on the ballot. Farmer had 13 write-in votes, and four other people had a single write-in vote each.
