Conway Springs Fall Fest is fast approaching— there’s just three weeks to get a booth ready and a parade entry completed.
Make plans to participate and attend. There is something for everyone this year, especially with four days of Fall Fest activities, starting with the D&J Carnival specially-priced Ride-A-Rama on Thursday evening from 7 – 10 p.m.
Fall Fest Buttons are on sale this week. They are available at banks and the grocery store, as well as the city building. Visitors will need a button to eat at the Chamber of Commerce Barbecue and to be eligible for the prize drawings on Saturday. For more information on the events of Fall Fest, contact the City Clerk’s office at 208 W. Spring Ave., 456-2345.
Besides a booth at the arts and crafts fair, there also are some returning competitions that anyone can enter. Enter your homemade salsa in the Fall Fest Salsa Contest (three categories again this year: hot, mild, and alternative). Or you can be a salsa judge! You can also compete (or participate just for fun) in the State Bank 2-Mile Fun Walk/Run on Saturday morning. And if Poker is your game, test your skill (or luck!) by entering the Knights of Columbus Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament. The flyer with more information about the contest can be found in the city building, and there are prizes for the best in each category.
The Conway Springs Library Book and Video Sale starts Saturday morning and the Arts & Crafts booths will open at 9 a.m. in the park. On Saturday afternoon, you can see really cool cars at the car show, or sing your heart out at karaoke. You can also enjoy free carriage rides from 3–5 p.m. from the Scout Hut, courtesy of Spring View Manor and The Young Agency. Live entertainment will begin at noon on the South Stage. If you want a free airplane ride, the sign-up will be at Haviland Telephone Company this year.
In addition to Thursday night, D&J Carnival will have two other specially-priced Ride-A-Ramas – Friday night and Sunday afternoon.
Mark your calendars and make plans to join in the fun.
