A real estate website has named Haysville as one of the safest cities in Kansas.
Movoto.com looked at all Kansas cities with a population of 10,000 or greater, and Haysville came in fourth on the list. A total of 34 cities were included on the list.
In this part of the state, Andover was ranked second, Derby tied for seventh and El Dorado came in ninth. Rankings were based on 2012 data.
“The 10,939 folks that live in this little city will surely attest to the fact that this is one safe place,” the website wrote.
No murders and a low number of violent crimes, robberies and assaults helped Haysville rank high on the list.
Haysville’s chief administrative officer, Will Black, said the ranking helps showcase the city as a great place to live.
“The police department is always working to ensure the safety of the citizens,” he said.
The top 10 cities were Prairie Village, Andover, Lansing, Haysville, Ottawa, Gardner, Derby, Atchison, El Dorado and Parsons. Other south-central Kansas towns in the rankings included Newton (18th), McPherson (19th), Hutchinson (30th) and Wichita (34th).
