Oatville Elementary School had several items stolen in a burglary at the school between the evening of Aug. 11 and the morning of Aug. 12.
Among the the items stolen were a 50-inch flatscreen television, 15 laptop computers, a DVR and three red wagons. The value of the stolen items is approximately $9,000.
Despite the theft, Haysville USD 261 spokesperson Liz Hames said that the school will be fine.
“It really won't have an effect because we had done a computer exchange where the teachers had got new computers,” Hames said. “We'll take the old ones, refurbish them and send them back to the school. However, we will have to replace the TV and DVR.”
USD 261 superintendent Dr. John Burke asks that anyone seeing suspicious activity on weekends or late at night on district property to call 911. Information concerning the Oatville Elementary School burglary should be reported to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111, or to the Sedgwick County Sheriff's department at 316-660-5300
