Gregory Lee Richardson, 58, of Winfield, passed away Monday morning, Nov. 6, 2023, at the Harry Hynes Hospice Center in Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

Born March 10, 1965, in Wichita, he was the son of David Lee and Dianne K. (Wulf) Richardson. He was raised and received his early education in Wichita. His father passed away at a young age and Greg was raised by his mother and step-father, Dean. The family moved to Arkansas City when Greg was in middle school. He attended Arkansas City schools and Arkansas City High School, graduating in 1984. Following high school, Greg attended Cowley County Community College and took night classes for jet engine mechanic and hazmat clean-up and removal.

Greg was previously married and the couple had two children, Gavin and Jake. They later divorced. He worked for LG Pike for a number of years before beginning his career with General Electric. Greg worked nights for 18 years. He started in the rotor shop, moving to test cell, and when his health began to fail, he moved to stock hold and worked days.

He was united in marriage to Melinda Richardson on Oct. 20, 2012, at the Crescent Masonic Lodge #133 in Arkansas City. The couple lived in Arkansas City until making their home in Winfield in 2016. They welcomed three children, Adlar, Hudson, and Otto.

He was a reserve police officer for the Arkansas City Police Department for 10 years. Greg was a member of the Arkansas City Crescent Lodge #133. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing and watching sports with his children, watching their band concerts, and farming with his buddy Phillip. He enjoyed selling and reloading guns and loved to ride his motorcycle.

His family includes his wife, Melinda Richardson, of Winfield; his children, Gavin Richardson and wife, Jennifer of Augusta; Jake Richardson and wife, Darcy; of Arkansas City; Adlar, Hudson, and Otto Richardson of Winfield; his parents, Dean and Dianne Crossman of Cheney; his siblings, Selinda Martin and husband Pat of Salina, Roger Crossman and wife Michele of Olathe, and Jason Crossman and wife Traci of Mulvane; his grandchildren, Aurora, Gabriel and Rexton Richardson, Hank Pike, and Heath Richardson; his nieces and nephews, Conner Martin and wife Betsy Shayla Robison, McKenzi, Grace and Noah Crossman, Nate Crossman and wife Taylor, and Paije Crossman; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; his best friends, Phillip Bruce and Mark McCaslin; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, his maternal, paternal, and step-paternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Cheney. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening.
