The 40th Kansas Shrine Bowl Game will take place Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Washburn University in Topeka and will feature local flavor as a pair of local athletes and a local coach will be on the roster.
Denver Doyle of Garden Plain will play for the West Squad, while Garden Plain football coach Brad McCormick will be an assistant on the West coaching staff.
The weekend kicks off Friday with the 2013 Shrine Bowl Banquet at the Ramada Convention Center in downtown Topeka at 6 p.m. All tickets to the banquet must be pre-ordered by calling 800-530-5524.
The Shrine Bowl parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday and will feature Shrine Units and Shrine Clubs from across Kansas, plus the Shrine Bowl football teams, the Kansas Masonic All-State High School Marching Band, the Shrine Bowl All-Star Cross Country Teams, and the Shrine Bowl All-Star Cheer Squad.
The 2013 Open Two-Mile Charity Road Race starts at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. Check-in for the race begins at 5 p.m at the starting line. The finish of the race at Yager Stadium will be televised during the pre-game show of the Kansas Shrine Bowl Game.
Advance registration fee is $30 and includes water, refreshments, medals and awards. Members of high school or college cross country teams can register for $20. The Shrine Bowl Cross Country All-Star Teams will run in the same race, but will be timed and awarded separately.

Last but not least, the Kansas Shrine Bowl football game kicks off at 7:05 p.m. and will be televised across Kansas on Cox Kansas 22. All players will be representing their high school, the Kansas Shrine Bowl and the Shriners Hospitals for Children and their patients. All proceeds from the game go to benefit the network of 22 hospitals.
