Darlene May Larson passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023 at the age of 88. She was born Oct. 5, 1935, to Erby and Paulene (May) Phillips. Darlene was the oldest of four children. She attended grade school at the Frog Pond Country School, then middle school and high school in Argonia, where she received her diploma.

Darlene and Richard Larson were married on Aug. 25, 1954. She was a farm wife who could butcher a chicken for dinner and canned countless quarts and pints of her garden raised vegetables.

Darlene accepted Jesus as her personal savior in January 1964 at the Argonia Baptist Church. When the family moved into Milan on Aug. 10, 1966, she began attending the Milan Church of Christ. She participated in hundreds of Bible correspondence courses with new converts for more than 50 years. Darlene was a faithful follower of Christ and looked forward to going Home to be with the Lord.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Larson; and grandson, Edward Olen Larson.

She is survived by her three children: son, Edward Larson and his wife Gaylene; daughter, Loretta Botkin and her husband Stan; and daughter, Arlene Thomsen and her husband Thane; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers and one sister.

Graveside service will take place on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Milan Cemetery.

A visitation will be held at Cornejo Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the family present to receive friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the Wellington Church of Christ and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
