Ralph David Oxendine, 89, of Cheney, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center.
Ralph was born on July 7, 1934, in Pierce City, Mo. He was the son of Charley A. Oxendine and Edna Lucile Oxendine. Ralph graduated from Midway High School in 1952. He enlisted with the Army in February 1957. He served in Germany until February 1960, and was a reservist until February 1963. Before leaving for Germany, he married the love of his life, Joan Oxendine, on May 3, 1957. They were married for 65 years before she passed on Oct. 28, 2022. 
He worked for Associated Grocers for 30-plus years, leaving there in 1988. He then entered into the aircraft industry, and he retired from Boeing in 1999. Aside from working full time, he also had a farm where from 1972 to 1989 he raised swine, and then in 1989 he transitioned to raising cattle, and was involved with cattle until he sold off his herd in January 2021. 
Ralph is survived by his three children, Beverly Ann (Rick Looslie) of Joplin, Mo., Steven Brian (Sue Cowan) Oxendine, of Wichita, and Larry Alan (Danine Russel) Oxendine, of Cheney; six grandchildren:, Jessica Cottingham (Tim), Elizabeth McClary (Landon), Nathan Oxendine (Jessica), Jonathan Oxendine, Brian Oxendine (Emily), and Larry Oxendine, Jr. (Candyce); three great-great grandsons, one of which will be arriving soon; six great-granddaughters; two sisters, Naomi White and Norma Loveland; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leon.
The funeral service will be at Wulf-Ast Mortuary, 911 Biermann, Garden Plain, on Saturday, Feb. 10. There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m, and the service will begin at 11 a.m., with a graveside service to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Cheney.
