RESPONSE FROM: Eric Meyers, and Haysville City Council Ward 1 Candidate

1. I’m a 14-year U.S. Air Force Veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and now I’m ready to
serve again, this time, right here at home. Since 2019, I’ve proudly run Myers Mushrooms LLC in
Haysville with my USAF Veteran wife and two children. Our company supplies and equips mushroom
growers across North America with USA made products and I have been developing equipment for the
industry. We are also an active mushroom farm, supplying fresh mushrooms to the local community
restaurants and regularly donate produce to The Lord's Diner. I've given educational tours and classes
to professors and chefs at WSU, Wichita Farm & Ranch club, Botanica, Veteran Farmer Coalition and
local Scout troops. After the military, my wife and I decided to plant our roots in Haysville and chose
to stay. We love the small town feel and the convenience of how close everything is and the people are
very welcoming. I hope to bring new ideas to Haysville to revitalize and beautify our city.
2. With my Air Force background, I have experience in leadership, teamwork and making sure the
mission comes first. With 14 years of USAF vehicle maintenance experience, I have expert knowledge
in vehicle maintenance and fleet management. As a farmer myself, I understand how the local farmers
market can be a critical stepping stone for new companies and we need to invest in ensuring it will
thrive.
I also bring experience in:
-Local food systems & agriculture
-Government compliance and safety inspections
-USDA/KDA Grant writing and grant management
-I managed over $12M in government and private budgets, sourcing, and purchasing
-Product development and local manufacturing
-Government and Private Facility Project and Program Management
3. I'm running for office to get some changes made in Haysville. I want to establish incentives for
existing companies to improve curb appeal and renovate buildings. We need to develop more incentives
to get new industry and business in Haysville. We need to make Haysville a place that is welcoming for
our children and future generations to thrive. I would like to establish a tree planting program/plan for
parks and roadways. I want to see a shift away from built-to-rent townhomes and duplexes and build
more single family homes, new industrial parks, new or refresh retail locations. A big part of my
responsibilities is listening to the citizens of Haysville, hearing their concerns and ideas of how they
envision Haysville.
4. Some top issues would be to develop more single family home developments, refurbish or replace
aged buildings using tax incentives to lure in new investors.
As well as:
-No More additional taxes, stabilize or lower the mill levy
-Continued investment of existing funds in parks
-More affordable single family homes, not townhomes or build to rent developments.
-Establish incentives for existing companies to improve curb appeal and renovate buildings
-New splash pad at Dorner Park
-Establish a Tree planting program/plan for parks and roadways
-Seek grants, state, and federal funding for improving our infrastructure
-Strengthen our farmers market with upgraded and expanded facilities via USDA/KDA grants
-Implement a plan to replace the crumbling Meridian Big Ditch Bridge
-No more build to rent developments
-I will personally donate 100 black walnut, elderberry, chestnut, and willow trees to the city
-Establish a community garden program
