Lloyd Erie "Jabo" Cook, Jr., 81, of Augusta, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, at Clearwater Cemetery, Clearwater.
Lloyd was born in Kopperston, W.V., on Nov. 24, 1941, to the late Lillian Inez (Lafferty) and Lloyd Erie Cook, Sr. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, and was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base, where he met his wife, Kay. He was a respiratory therapist for many years and helped start the respiratory therapy department at the VA in 1971. He also helped teach respiratory therapy at Wichita State University for many years.
Lloyd enjoyed sports and had played football, track, and baseball in high school as well as singing in the choir. In his later years, he enjoyed watching football, listening to music especially bluegrass, and gardening. On Oct. 16, 1965, he married Kay (Trimmer) Cook at St. Marks Presbyterian Church in Haysville.
She survives him. He also is survived by his daughter, Meshel Cook; son, Andrew Cook; brother, Carlos Cook; sister, Jeanette Dillon; grandchildren, Caleb and Noah Cook; and great-grandchildren, Weston and Lilliana Rucas, and Gatlin and Remington Dunn.
