Peggy Jean Strong, the daughter and only child of Lloyd and Cassie (Harvey) Kennedy, was born in the
home of Bert and Susie Harvey, her grandparents, in the Greenwood community near Fargo, Okla., on
Jan. 3, 1930. She passed from this life on Sept. 8, 2023, at her home in Fargo at the age of 93
years, 8 months and 5 days. 
Peggy grew up in the Fargo area and attended the Fargo Public Schools graduating from high school with the class of 1948. Following graduation she continued her education by attending Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Okla., graduating in 1952, and received her master’s degree from Northwestern in 1957. She also did graduate studies at Wichita State University.
On Dec. 27, 1953, Peggy was united in marriage to Robert Strong in the Fargo Methodist Church.
Their home was blessed with three children, Susie, Robert and Jeanie. Peggy taught school for 32 years.
She began teaching in Blackwell, Okla., before moving to Scottsdale, Ariz. The final 26 years of her career before returning to Fargo and her retirement in 1987 were spent in Clearwater, Kan. She taught high school students world history, health and home economics and social studies to middle school students. She also was the coach for the high school girls basketball, track and volleyball teams for many of those years.
Her dedication to education touched the lives of many students. She was active in the Clearwater
community and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, an affiliate organization of the Masonic Lodge. She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden, cooking and canning vegetables, reading, embroidery work and in later years crossword and word search puzzles. For many years camping trips made many lasting memories.
Peggy is survived by her children, Susie Kelso and her husband Mike of Henderson, Nev., Robert Strong and his wife Barbara of Fargo, Okla., and Jeanie Strong of Fargo; her grandchildren, Marty Nelson and wife Christine of Little Rock, Ark., Dennis Nelson and wife Conni of Fargo, Jay Schroeder and wife Lisa of Andale, Kandi Strong and wife Candi of Wichita, and Chad Willis and wife
Katrina of Blue Rapids, Kan.; her great-grandchildren, Maddy, Ila, Cassie, Kade, Kale, Blane, Lilly, Blair, Blake, Olivia and Richard; and great-great-grandchildren Brinley and Gwen; her devoted caregivers; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Cassie Kennedy; her beloved husband of 56 years, Robert Strong; and other loved ones.

Service was at 2 p.m. Thursday Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. at the Fargo Global Methodist Church with burial
