Virginia (Ginny) L. Sherman
Virginia (Ginny) L. Sherman passed away at the age of 69 on Oct. 2, 2023, at the age of at Avita Family Health and Rehab under the care of Phoenix Hospice.
Ginny was born in Wichita on Nov. 21, 1954, the daughter of Ernestine V. Sherman and George A. Sherman. She grew up in Haysville, where she was involved in Girl Scouts, and was an active choir and Sunday school member at Haysville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed helping her mom with many activities there.
Ginny graduated from Campus High School. Her favorite moments were taking trips with her family to Boulder, Colo., to visit her aunt Ruth Wilson and uncle Walt. She also enjoyed visiting her family in Texas. She was a devoted daughter to her mother. Gin’s hobbies were caring for plants and taking care of their home.
Other hobbies included making stained glass creations, beaded key chains and crosses of colored glass. Her heart was full when she would share her crafts with friends and family. She loved collecting crosses, angels and butterflies. She enjoyed playing pool and eating out with her best friend and caregiver, Diane.
She loved to tell stories about the adventures of her and her favorite cousin, Megan. She was loved by her roommates at her Hearts of Love and made friends at Avita Health facility.
Reading her Bible and devotionals daily were of great importance to Ginny. She was a good example of turning to her faith to handle life’s challenges. She was very devoted to prayer for her family and friends.
She is survived by her aunt Betty Jane Dalton, her uncle Patrick Webb Tribbey, and many cousins and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father George, mother Ernestine Sherman, and her brother George A. Sherman.
