Rogene Ann Becker, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Garden Plain on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024. She was born April 12, 1937, in Ost, Kan., to Eugene and Madalyn (Doffing) Preisser. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; brothers, Dick and Jerry Preisser; and sister, Kay Preisser.

She is survived by her husband, Jerome Becker; children, Brad (Robin) Becker of Wichita, Jeff (Becca) Becker, Denise (Chris) Heimerman, Russ (Lori) Becker, and Jaime (Cy) Kitzmann, all from Garden Plain, KS; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Rogene grew up in Andale and endured hardship early in her childhood, losing her father in World War II, when the USS Hull destroyer ship was lost at sea on Dec. 18, 1944.

She attended Andale High School and then Mount St. Scholastica for a year before marrying her high school sweetheart, Jerome Becker, on Oct. 12, 1957. Together they raised five children in Garden Plain. Through the years you could find her active in her community, being part of the founding committee for St. Anthony’s Ballpark or cheering on her kids and grandkids at all of their sporting events. She will be revered as a fun-loving, caring, and wonderful Mom and Grammy.

A memorial has been established with St. Anthony’s Ball Park, 615 N. Main Garden Plain, KS 67050.

Service will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Garden Plain.
