Jean (Gegen) Haukap, 95, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was born Sept. 27, 1928., to Jacob and Anna (Mainz) Gegen in Colwich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar; son, Wayne; son-in-law, Eldon Butler; and siblings, Carrie Myers, Irene Mertes, Loretta Simon, Alvina Mertes, Joe Gegen and Frank Gegen. Jean is survived by her children, Wanda (Greg) Weber, Ann Butler, Jerry (Debbie) Haukap, Joe (Tresha) Haukap, Joyce (Phil) Bilson, Jenell (Dan) Klausmeyer and Elaine (John) Horacek; daughter-in-law, Julie Haukap; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation with the family present will be held on Monday, June 3, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Wulf-Ast Mortuary-Garden Plain Chapel. Recitation of the rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 3, and the funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, both at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Garden Plain.
