Samuel Clayton Jackson, 87, passed away on June 29, 2024, surrounded by family in Oklahoma City.
Born on May 7 1937, in Wichita, Sam graduated from North High School and attended Wichita State University. At 18, he began working in Wichita for the Missouri Gas Company as a mail clerk. Over the years, Sam worked his way up in the company, becoming vice president of Southeastern Operations.
Sam is preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; three brothers, Richard, Jerry and Philip; stepfather, Pearl Jackson Cluster; and son, Stephen Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jackson of Yukon Okla.; children, Tammy and Tony Eilert of Topeka, Cindy and Bob Coss of Angel Fire, N.M., Harry Skip Jackson of Arkansas, Richard and Connie Greenwell of Haysville, Ginny and John Underwood of Mustang Okla.; and Jeff and Keri Parks of Oklahoma City. He was known as “Pappy” to 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, at North MacArthur Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. Graveside service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Ozark Memorial Park in Joplin, Mo.
