James Duane “JD” Wise, 75, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Friday, July 19, 2024, in Wichita.
James was born in Dodge City to Lorran and Ruth (Dunnica) Wise on Aug. 8, 1948. James served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1970. He worked in maintenance for 25 years and retired from Derby Rec Center after 10 years of service with them. 
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vicki (Michal) Wise, Wichita; son, Brian (Shannon) Wise, Linwood, Kan.; brothers, Gary (Teresa) Wise, Doug (Betty) Wise, both from El Dorado, and Darryl (Raylene) Wise, Clearwater; and his beloved grandpup, Maverick. 
Celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 26, at 1 p.m., Affinity All Faiths Mortuary, 2850 S. Seneca, Wichita. Memorials may be sent to The Kansas Veterans Cemetery, 1208 N. College St., Winfield, KS 67156. The family asks that you dress casually in car show /race shirts.
