Ives has role in MTW show
CLEARWATER – Brielle Ives of Clearwater will be part of the cast of “Matilda” in next week's run of shows put on by Music Theatre Wichita.
She is playing the character of Alice. Ives has done four shows with MTW and a couple more with the MTW Academy. Her vocal coach is Injoy Fountain, who appeared on season 17 of “The Voice.
Ives will be a seventh grader at Clearwater Middle School, and she turns 12 in August. Her first show with MTW was roughly two years ago “The Wizard of Oz.” All of her onstage performances so far have been with MTW.
“Matilda” is known for combining humor for all ages with messages of empowerment and belonging. “Matilda” started as a 1988 book by Roald Dahl. It was turned into a 1996 movie starring a young Mara Wilson and directed by Danny DeVito. It was then turned into a stage musical, and a movie musical was released in 2022.
