New owners excited to upgrade Cheney laundromat

CHENEY – Jordan and Courtney Heinze are excited about the prospects for their new business in Cheney – Main Street Laundry.
The two are long-time Cheney residents. The couple has been married for 10 years, and they have two children, Carter and Avery, ages 9 and 5.
Jordan grew up in Cheney, and now his family lives in the house that his parents had for a number of years. He and Courtney feel a strong connection with the community, and when a business opportunity came up on Main Street, they wanted to get involved.
“The laundromat came up for sale, and it was a good opportunity at the right time,” said Jordan. Part of the opportunity was the fact that Courtney already was renting out the back of the building for her business, Bronze Boutique.
Courtney's business offers spray tans, clothing, jewelry, candles and lotions. She also offers earlobe piercings. Those services are by appointment at bronzeboutique.

Expanding the Bronze Boutique space is certainly part of the couple's plans for the near future. But for now, the focus has been on getting all of the laundromat's equipment running.
“I've got nine of the 10 dryers working now,” said Jordan. “We've got 16 washing machines, but we'll take out some of those to get down to a more even complement of washers and dryers.”
When that work has been accomplished, Courtney said they'll be able to expand the space for her business.
“There's still a huge need for a laundromat in Cheney and this area,” said Courtney, who was excited to partner up with her husband on the business.
All of the machines are still coin operated, they said. They have a bill changer for coins, and a vending machine for laundry supplies.
Main Street Laundry is open 24/7, and Jordan said they will do their best to keep the washers and dryers going during the remodeling process, which is continuing.
“There may be a short closure while we install new flooring,” he said. “Our goal is to create a clean and safe environment for everyone who wants to use the laundromat.”
The Heinzes said interested customers can follow their Facebook page for updates and progress on the remodeling work.
When he isn't busy working on the laundromat, Jordan is the service manager for Murphy Tractor in Wichita. He started work there after high school and his heavy equipment training, and has been there 17 years.
