Lawrence “Pete” Compton, age 92, of Cheney, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, and funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, both at Trinity United Christian Church, 416 N. Washington St., Cheney.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Parsons) Compton; parents, Alson and Zama (Scammehorn) Compton; and siblings, Roy, Harold, Glenn, Earl, and Bob Compton, Mary Jane Alloway, and Esther Fornshell.

He is survived by his wife, Nelva (Ellis) Compton; children, Kevin (Phyllis) Compton of Maize, Kirsten Bolinger of Dallas, Texas, and Kip (Beth) Compton of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Shawnae (Brandt) Ditgen, Jenny Compton, Abigail (Jefferson) Peak, Eric (Peyton) Compton, Trista (Trey) Nance, Sara (Bryce) Cummings, and Maxwell Compton; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Homer Compton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Christian Church, 416 N. Washington St, Cheney, KS 67025.
