Janet E. (Ternes) Bagwell, 77, formerly of Wichita and Conway Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, at Newton Medical Center, Newton.

Janet was born July 10, 1947, in Great Bend, the daughter of Jacob Michael Ternes and Frieda Rose (Ast) Ternes. She grew up in Conway Springs, where she attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Conway Springs public schools. She graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1965.

Janet was united in marriage to Bouie Alexander “Buck” Bagwell, Jr., on Oct. 17, 1970, at Conway Springs. They made their first home in Wichita before moving to Birmingham, Ala.

Janet later returned to Wichita, where she worked in aircraft manufacturing as an electrical assembler at Cessna and Boeing Aircraft.

Janet was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harlan and Thomas Ternes; and her twin sons, Jerry and Bryan Bagwell.

Janet is survived by one son, Jason Bagwell (Amy) of Irving, Texas; four brothers, Philip Ternes (Pam) of Dexter, Mo., Allen Ternes (Pat) of Wichita, Tony Ternes (Anne) of Conway Springs, and Pat Ternes (Lisa) of Conway Springs; four sisters, Karen Struble (Vic) of Conway Springs, Connie Foster (Mike) of Goddard, Joyce Brown (Don) of Wichita, and Tina Chase (Gene) of Dexter; two sisters-in-law, Gayle Ternes of Tulsa, and Judy Ternes of Wichita; one granddaughter, Parker Bagwell; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Rosary will be at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs, with Father Kyle Dugan as celebrant. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
