Sharon L. Green Huddleston
Sharon L. Green Huddleston, 88, died Saturday, March 22, 2025, at her residence in Derby.
Sharon was born Jan. 6, 1937, in Wichita to Lee Everett Rhodes and Ellen (King) Rhodes. She grew up in Wichita, where she attended Wichita Public Schools. She graduated from Wichita West High School with the class of 1954. She went to work at Beech Aircraft in the office under Mrs. Beech’s secretary until 1957.
Sharon was united in marriage to George Henry Green on June 24, 1955, in Wichita. They made their first home in Wichita before moving to Conway Springs in 1961.
In 1964, Sharon worked in electrical wiring at Cessna Aircraft until 1967. She went into the nursing field in 1969 as a certified nurse’s assistant and began working at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. She later worked at the Catholic Care Center, Spring View Manor and Westview Manor in Derby. George passed away on Nov. 23, 1991.
Sharon later married Bob Huddleston on Feb. 14, 2000, at the First Christian Church in Conway Springs. They enjoyed 14 years together and made their home at 114 N. 3rd Street in Conway Springs. The couple loved to travel and spent many months touring the country with many of their travel friends. Bob passed away Dec. 18, 2014. Sharon later moved to Derby in 2015.
Sharon was a very active member of the First Christian Church, Conway Springs, where she served in numerous capacities. She later joined the Calvary Baptist Church in Derby. Sharon loved the Lord and always gave him Glory and Honor for her life. Sharon was a member of Sorority, Mother’s Club, E.H.U. and the Red Hat Society. Sharon served as an E.M.T. on the Conway Springs Volunteer Ambulance for 15 years and was a member of Conway Springs Chamber of Commerce.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gary Rhodes; and one son, Darrin Green.
Sharon is survived by three sons, Douglas Green, Sr. (Donita) of Fayetteville, Ark., Daniel Green of Derby, and Duane Green (Iva) of Eureka Springs, Ark.; two brothers, Steve Rhodes of Rockmart, Ga., and Ronnie Rhodes of Moore, Okla.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1636 E. Patriot Ave., Derby. Graveside committal will be at 2:30 p.m. in Conway Springs Cemetery.
