Ed J. Albers, 82, loving husband, father, and “grumpa” passed away on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Ed was a farmer, carpenter and propane salesman, and a life long member of St. Rose Parish and a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a proud U.S. veteran, serving in the Kansas Air National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Virginia (Eck) Albers; parents-in-law, Joe and Rose (Helten) Brost; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Metzen) Albers; and brothers-in-law, Jerome Brost and Jerry Cleary. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dolores; his children, Michelle (Tibor) Mohacsi, Chris (Maria) Albers, Ann (Scott) Frey, Matt (Jessa) Albers, Amy (Layne) Schroeder, Jaci (Mike) Bell, David (Suzanne) Albers and Kelli (Wil) Charles; 29 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; and siblings, Mary Jane (Rollie) Elpers, Bob (Betty) Albers, Don Albers, Gina (Don) Hommertzheim and Annette (Dave) Smalley.
Recitation of the rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, and the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, both at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cheney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. Rose Catholic Church Building Fund, 4813 NE 150th Ave., Cheney, KS 67025.
