Donald L. Casner, 79, of Viola, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025 at his home east of Viola, Kan.

Don was born July 9, 1946 in Wichita. He was the son of C. L. “Bus” and Lillie (Sartin) Casner. He grew up in the Viola community and attended the Viola School before transferring to Conway Springs in the eighth grade. He graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1964. He continued his education at Sterling College and Arkansas City Junior College before completing a bachelor of science degree at Pittsburg State University.

Don was united in marriage to Linda Jo Gaskin on Nov. 30, 1974, in Wright City, Mo. They made their home at Viola. Linda passed away March 31, 2007. He later married Linda Joy Scaramuzzi on Oct. 16, 2009, at their farm home northeast of Viola.

Don began farming at age of 13. He worked in the aircraft industry during the winter months at Cessna Aircraft in industrial arts education and at Boeing Aircraft as a tool builder. He ultimately beca`me a full-time farmer until his retirement in 2012.

Don was a member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church, Viola.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Don is survived by his wife, Linda Casner; one son, Justin Casner of Clearwater; one daughter, Angelica Casner of Kansas City, Mo.; one granddaughter, Hope Casner of Chicago, Ill.; and a number of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation with family present will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, and funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, both at the Haysville Christian Church, 1306 W. Grand Ave, Haysville. Private interment will be in Peotone Cemetery, Viola.
