John Seiwert, 69, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at his home southwest of Conway Springs.

Charles John Seiwert was born Nov. 29, 1956, to Clarence Joseph Seiwert and Agnes Elizabeth (Peitz) Seiwert. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Conway Springs. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Conway Springs public schools. He graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1974.

John was united in marriage to JoElla Brungardt on Sept. 15, 1979, at Conway Springs. They made their home on the family farm southwest of Conway Springs, where they raised their family of two daughters. JoElla passed away June 23, 2005.

John later married Vicky (Swope) Rowden on May 20, 2006, at Wichita, and was blessed with the addition of a son, Jesse, into his life.

John was a farmer all his life. He was also the Transportation Supervisor for USD 356 in Conway Springs for 42 years.

John was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Evelyn Jennings.

John is survived by his family, Jesse Rowden, Katie Casner and Maggie Seiwert, all of Wichita; five sisters, Joyce Pinkley and Mary McNutt both of Wichita, Ruth Redding of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; Jan Carter of Olathe, and Debbie Halsey of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several grandchildren.

Since John’s last words, in response to his blue heeler barking, were “That’s my dog, he’s fat,” let's also mention his beloved dog, Wilson, and a number of other relatives and many friends.

Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. followed by funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs, with Father Kyle Dugan as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conway Springs.
