Frank Joseph Bartonek
Frank Joseph Bartonek, 70, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026, at Cox Medical Center, Branson, Mo.
Frank was born Sept. 8, 1955 in Great Bend to Lorain and Genevieve (Axman) Bartonek. He grew up on the family farm near Olmitz, Kan. He attended St Ann’s Catholic School in Olmitz before graduating from Otis-Bison High School with the class of 1973. He continued his education at Barton County Junior College before earning a degree in electrical engineering at Pittsburg State University. Frank ultimately attended Newman University, receiving his master’s degree in human resources from Wichita State University in Wichita.
He was united in marriage to Mary Alice Williams on Oct. 7, 1978, at Great Bend. They made their first home in Wichita before moving to Conway Springs in 1981. Mary passed away Sept. 2, 1989.
Frank later married Margritha Lynn (Ahern) McMillian on Oct. 14, 1995, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs. They made their home at 110 Bennett Ct. in Conway Springs.
Frank was involved in various levels of aviation, working for FAA through Cessna Aircraft in Wichita for 39 years. He retired in October of 2017 but returned to Cessna a year later. Frank also worked for Ebersole Mortuary as a part-time funeral assistant.
Frank was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs, Knights of Columbus Council 2987, and was a former Boy Scout Leader for Troop #809 in Conway Springs.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Pressley Bartonek, in 2017.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Bartonek; children, Nancy Tyler (Thomas), of Pittsburg, and Mark Bartonek, Katie Erker (Jeff) and Shaun Bartonek (Rheannon) all of Conway Springs; one brother, James Bartonek (Dee) of Olmitz; two sisters, Mary Thompson (Mark) of Topeka, and Norma Schneider (Dave) of Great Bend; 14 grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Clonmel. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conway Springs.
