Bill Dean Osterhout, 68, of Haysville, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Bill was born on Oct. 27, 1955, in El Dorado to parents George Osterhout and Virginia (Farthing) Moore. He attended El Dorado High School before beginning his accomplished career in the oil and gas industry that spanned over 30 years. Throughout his career, Bill made a positive impact on the lives of many. He mentored countless individuals, helping them achieve their goals and reach their full potential. His dedication to his work and his commitment to excellence set him apart as a true leader in his field. Bill retired from Shell Oil in 2016 and spent his time as a personal trainer and dietician for seniors. He enjoyed sports, politics, gardening, cooking, and spending time in Colorado with his family.
Bill was a compassionate, loving and caring person who made everyone he interacted with (whether he knew them or not) feel valued and accepted. He loved his family and pets more than anything else in the world. He was a strong, protective and supportive father, uncle, brother, and friend who was always there when anyone needed him. He will be deeply missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.
Bill is survived by his three children, Jessica Kagan (Chris), Kylie Wead and Cassidy Osterhout; his seven grandchildren, Kian, Reece, Tavin, Kadence, Kenzlie, Emmy and Ruby; his great-granddaughter, Everly; siblings, Bob Osterhout (Ceralea), Linda Hamlin (Jim), and Karen Osterhout-Bond (Steve); and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
To honor Bill’s memory, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Wichita Riverside Brewery (150 N Mosley, Wichita). Anyone who knew him is invited to attend and remember his remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Humane Society at give.kshumane.org, Trump Save America at secure.winred.com, or donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
