Buddy R. Cash, 84, of Conway Springs, died Monday, June 26, 2023 at Spring View Manor in Conway Springs.

Buddy was born June 9, 1939 at Neosho, Mo., to Raymond and Lorena (England) Cash. He grew up in Anderson, Mo., where he attended the local public schools. He graduated from Anderson High School with the class of 1957.

Buddy joined the Army National Guard and later moved to Kansas in 1957. He met Peggy Joan Woods and the two were united in marriage on Aug. 29, 1958, in the Viola Presbyterian Church. They made their first home in Viola before moving to Conway Springs in 1967.

Buddy began working at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita as a machinist. Following a layoff in 1970, he worked for Kerry’s Champlin service station in Conway Springs. In 1976, Buddy attended horseshoeing school and became a self-employed farrier. He soon began working for the Farmers Coop, first as a propane delivery driver and later as the assistant manager. Later, Buddy worked in the oil fields for Rush Welding for 10 years before returning to Boeing in 1987. He retired in 1995.

Buddy was a lifetime member of the Conway Springs Arena Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tony Cash; and one infant daughter, Shani Suzanne Cash.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Peggy Cash; four sons, Kerry Cash of Conway Springs, Kevin Cash of Viola, Tracy Cash of Newton, and Troy Cash of Wichita; one sister, Sharon Wright of Clearwater; one brother, Dennis Cash of Wichita; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives and many friends.

Graveside memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 7, in Viola Cemetery, Viola. Inurnment will follow in Viola Cemetery.
