Cleta Marie (Glenn) Cornett
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Cleta Marie (Glenn) Cornett, age 96, of Clearwater.
Cleta died Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the Oxford Grand Assisted Living and Memory Care Unit in Wichita.
Cleta was born on Nov. 25, 1928, in Delaware County, Okla., where she spent her entire childhood.
She was the fourth of six children to her parents, Thomas A. Glenn and Lottie F. (Hagar) Glenn. She received eight years of elementary education in Bethel, Okla., and four years of high school in the Colcord, Okla., school districts.
She was united in marriage to Calvin L. Cornett on June 12, 1949, at the Maysville, Ark., Baptist Church. They made their first home in Cave Springs, Ark., in 1953. The Cornetts then moved to Wichita, where they resided for 35 years and raised two children. Cleta was primarily a homemaker but worked briefly as a nurse, a board of education tech, librarian, and in the cafeteria at Boeing.
After the Haysville tornado in 1991 destroyed their home, Cleta and Calvin moved to Clearwater, where they attended the First Baptist Church. She resided in Clearwater for 31 years, and in the spring of 2023, moved to Wichita into a nursing home.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 30, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., both at the Clearwater First Baptist Church, 306 E Ross St., Clearwater.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Calvin Cornett; parents, Thomas and Lottie Glenn; amd siblings, Victor Glenn, Hester Wilhelm, Ralph Glenn, Howard Glenn and Andy Glenn.
She is survived by jer children, Gerald (Joyce) Cornett of Wichita, and Yvonne (Nick) Keiss of Clearwater; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
