Connie Louise (Prouse) Selenke was born on August 17, 1940 to Louise (Carlson) Lavell and Vernon R. Prouse. As a child the family lived in Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Little Rock and Fayetteville, Ark. When Connie was in the fourth grade, they moved back to Wichita. Connie was 12 years old when her parents divorced, and she and her brother, Lyle, continued to live with their father. Connie was a member of Christ the King Church since 2005 when they moved to Oklahoma City. After moving to Caldwell, Kan., in 2019, they became members of the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
