Douglas Allison Jones
Douglas Allison Jones, age 72, passed away on May 6, 2025, at Common Spirit St. Francis in Colorado Springs. Doug was born on June 16, 1952, in Independence, Mo.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Brenda; his two sons, Scott (Shelby) and Brandon (Alison); his sister, Holly; his cherished grandchildren, Allison, Marcus, and Maxwell; and his ever-faithful dog, Fritz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lee and Van Jones.
Doug was truly a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. A true jack-of-all-trades, Doug lived many lives in one, serving as a nurse, pilot, teacher, forest firefighter, and poison control specialist. He approached every role with kindness, humility, and a deep sense of service to others.
Known for his adventurous spirit and reverence for the outdoors, Doug found joy in flying, camping, rock climbing, hiking, skiing, and fishing. Incredibly smart, endlessly loving, and effortlessly funny, Doug had a gift for brightening the lives of everyone he met. He was so sweet, we liked to say it came from all the ice cream and popsicles he couldn’t resist.
A memorial service will be held at Chapel of South Fork (Colorado) on May 18 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Doug’s honor to High Flights Soaring in Peyton, Co. (https://highflights.com/).
