Florence Ann (Curless) Loger
An optimistic and grace-filled woman who loved God, her family and friends with a loving and kind spirit passed from this earth on September 23, 2024. Florence Ann (Curless) Loger was born in Wichita to Stephen and Ivel (Long) Curless Nov. 14, 1929, the third of four children. She was raised near Haysville, and was proud of her family’s farming heritage and strong values centered around faith, honesty, work and education.
Florence Ann attended Mayflower School, a one-room schoolhouse in her early years, moved to a two-room schoolhouse in seventh grade, and graduated from Clearwater High School in 1948. She met her life partner, Dale Loger, on the first day of her freshman year and had fun growing up together and writing letters to each other over the summer breaks.
After high school, Florence Ann attended business preparatory school in Wichita and was employed with the Kansas Crippled Children, helping doctors who treated children with polio and facial surgeries. She married Dale Loger on Sept. 17, 1950, in Haysville, and they started their rich and loving 58-year journey together.
Clearwater was the community where in 1953 they built their life-time home, ran a small family business together, raised their children and enjoyed their grandchildren, church, and a loyal group of friends, including The Friendship Club and The Lunch Bunch. They enjoyed summer trips with their children to Missouri, travels in the US and Europe with siblings, and regular trips to Colorado with friends.
Florence Ann loved her home and being with her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, plus all that went with it. She also was a musician, playing piano and organ for Haysville Christian Church for several years; a seamstress who made quilts for every grandchild and great-grandchild; and an avid reader her entire life. She and her husband owned and operated Loger’s Clothing & Gifts in Clearwater for 38 years together, with the help of loyal neighbors and family. She was proud of her family, friends and community. They will deeply miss her.
Florence Ann is survived by her children, Susan Addington (Chris), David Loger (Cathe), and Bryan Loger (Darla). She delighted in her grandchildren (12), great-grandchildren (22) and step-great-grandchildren (5). She is preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Ivel Curless; husband, Dale; son, Jon; and siblings, Hazel Fenster, Robert Curless, and Corene Love.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at First Christian Church, 524 Wood, Clearwater.
