Body

Gail Dean Miller, 91, passed away at Harry Hynes Hospice at St. Francis, Via Christi on Oct. 20, 2024.  He was born on Oct. 5, 1933, to Vernon and Freeda (Hendricks) Miller in Cheney.
Gail married Wanda Wulf on May 3, 1953, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on the hill. Together they had two children, Randall and Kathie.
Gail served in the U.S. Army and was a brick mason and farmer for more than 40 years. He also worked as a rural mail carrier. He served many years on the school board for USD 268.  For years, he owned a saw mill and enjoyed making beautiful furniture for others.
His greatest joy was to go to the fields and check the crops and watch the family carry on his passion of farming. He was always inquisitive of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and very proud of each and every one of them. He enjoyed gardening and planting trees, especially pecan trees.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Wanda (Wulf) Miller; his parents, Vernon and Freeda Miller; and his brother, Donald Wayne Miller.
He is survived by his brother, Glenn Miller; his son, Randall (Sheri) Miller; his daughter, Kathie Hampton-Additon (Kevin); his companion and life-long friend, Mary Long; his grandchildren, Ryan (Erin) Miller, Cole (Jenny) Miller, Blake Miller, Austin (Bailey) Hampton and Caden Hampton; his step-grandchildren, Jack (Elissa) Additon, Garrett (Tawny) Additon, Kelsey Wonser; and his 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, at Wulf-Ast Mortuary, 911 Biermann, Garden Plain. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 639 N. Lincoln, Cheney.
