James J. Harmon, 87, of Cheney, died July 4, 2023, at the Cheney Golden Age Home.
He was born Oct. 28, 1935, at Brenham, Kan., the son of James M. and Wilma Kendall Harmon. A longtime resident of the Cheney community, he was a retired farmer and mathematics teacher. James was a member of the Cheney Methodist Church.
In 1959, he married Adella Nikkel at Goessel. Other survivors include a son, Marcel and his wife Michelle; daughters, Chandra Gordon and her husband Rob, and Kimberly Ligon and her husband Joel; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and a sister, Joyce Walters.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m., Tuesday. July 11, at the Haviland Cemetery. A celebration of life will be 2 p.m., Monday, July 24, at Cheney Methodist Church.
