Janet Kathleen DeVore, age 89, passed away Sept. 13, 2024, in Wichita, surrounded by family. She was born Feb. 15, 1935, at McPherson, the daughter of John Wesley and Laura Genevieve Rader.

Janet received a bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State College and on July 22, 1956, she married Galyn DeVore at Ellis. She was a member of the Cheney Methodist Church and a resident of Cheney since 2008.

She is survived by her son, Clint DeVore (Stacy) Cheney; three grandchildren, Tiane DeVore (Parker Liebl), Jaden DeVore (Shanna), and Camryn DeVore; four great-grandchildren, Lincoln Liebl, and Blakely, Austyn and Shade DeVore; and sister, Roselyn Mesplay. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Galyn DeVore; son, Derek DeVore; and grandson, Destin DeVore.

Janet grew up in Ellis, attending and graduating from Ellis High School and Fort Hays State College, where she met and married Galyn DeVore. She taught English at Jetmore and Greensburg, and assisted with the family auction and custom harvesting businesses. She loved to read, work on prayer shawls and spend time with her family.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday Sept 24, at Cheney Methodist Church, Cheney, with Pastor Aaron Duell presiding. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Farmington Cemetery, Macksville.
