Jerry D. Alloway
Jerry D. Alloway, 82, retired carpenter, of Conway Springs, died Friday, July 26, 2024 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas.
Jerry was born June 16, 1942, in Wellington to Lawrence and Mary Jane (Compton) Alloway.
Jerry attended grade school at Cheney and Norwich before graduating from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1960. He continued his education at Coffeyville Junior College and was a member of the football team.
He began working on a local missile site near Anness before becoming employed by Cessna Aircraft in Wichita.
Jerry was a carpenter and worked most of his life in the construction business. He had been self-employed for a number of years but retired after working for the E.W. Johnson Construction Company in 2005.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Michelle Kay Wineinger.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Alice Alloway; sons, Shane Alloway (Samantha and Nick Mayes), Jerry and Jason Kraus; brother, Kurt (Mary Kay) Alloway; sister, Sondra (Jim) Wood; grandchildren, Jessy and Ashtyn Kraus, and Jacob and Jaydon Kraus; sisters-in-law, Beth Page and Peggy Peyton; special nephews, Jeff and Austin Alloway; and a number of other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, in Upchurch Cemetery, Norwich, with Pastor Eric Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Upchurch Cemetery.
