Karen A. Henson, 84, of Norwich, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Main St. Villa, Cheney, Kansas.

Karen was born on December 27th, 1940, to Carl and Deloris Loesch, in Wichita, KS. She was big sister to brothers Jimmy and Dean…  She attended school at Will Roger’s Elementary in Wichita, KS before the family moved to the farm SE of Norwich. She attended the one room Moffett School House where she walked uphill, both ways, in the snow, to attend class. She then attended Norwich High School and graduated with the class of 1959. During High School, Karen met the love of her life, Kent Henson and the two were married on August 28, 1960 at the Norwich Christian Church. The fruit of their love bore them two sons, Kurtis and Kenny. 

Karen later attended Wichita State University and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in education in May of 1970. She taught Kindergarten, Elementary Music, and was a reading specialist at the Norwich School for many years. 

She loved music, reading, trout fishing in Colorado, and spoiling her kids and grandkids.  She was a beautiful woman of faith, and she made the world’s best red velvet cake. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren all loved and adored her.  Karen leaves behind her an incredible legacy of faith, hope and love. “Her children rise up and bless her… A woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the product of her hands, And let her works praise her in the gates.”  Prov 31

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kent and her brother Jimmy.

She is survived by her two sons, Kurtis (Nellene) Henson and Kenny (Jenni) Henson, brother Dean Loesch, Six grandchildren: Megan, Ben, Kaitlin, Alecia, Ryan and Rachel.  Eight Great Grandchildren: Samy, Savannah, Aileena, Connor, Johnny, Addison, Indie and Hayes.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from the Norwich Christian Church, Norwich, Kansas with Pastor Kurt Henson, officiating. Interment followed Upchurch Cemetery, Norwich, Kansas. Ebersole Mortuary, Conway Springs was in charge of arrangements. Online guest book and condolences are available at www.ebersolemortuary.com.
