Kenneth Wright
Kenneth Wright, age 80, passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025. He was born April 8, 1944, to Glenn Wright and Stella (DeVoll) Wright in Leroy, Kan.
Kenneth’s life was one of profound resilience, love, and dedication to his family and community.
At the age of 15, Kenneth’s life was dramatically changed by a hunting accident that left him blind. However, through immense determination and the support of his family, Kenneth faced this challenge head-on. With intense rehabilitation, he regained his independence and went on to graduate from the Kansas School for the Blind in Kansas City, Kan.
After completing his high school education, Kenneth pursued his passions by studying auto mechanics and obtained a license to work in this trade. He later made his career at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, where he retired early at the turn of the century.
In 1971, Kenneth met the love of his life, Jeanette, in Topeka. They were married on Dec. 3, 1971, beginning a partnership that would last more than five decades. Together, they raised two sons, Jeremy and Gayle, whom Kenneth adored and supported with a deep, unwavering love.
Kenneth’s devotion to his family extended to his role as a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was an active member of his church community, where he passionately contributed to youth ministry and prison outreach programs. Kenneth loved taking children to youth meetings, where he could inspire and guide the next generation. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he lived it out through service and love for others.
One of the greatest joys in Kenneth’s life was spending time with his grandchildren, Dakota and Cheyanne. He cherished every moment with them, sharing his wisdom, love, and affection. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and deep family bonds lives on.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Stella Wright; brother, Gayle Wright; and half-sisters, Pearl Jean (Duane) Tremaine and Fern (Lester) Brutchin.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanette Wright; sons, Gayle Wright and Jeremy Wright; grandchildren, Dakota Wright and Cheyanne Wright; great-grandchild, Davian Gonzales; brother, Eldon (Judy) Wright; sister, Remona (Roger) Brooks; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
