Memorial services for Margie J. Turrell, 87, of Fairview, Okla., will be held on Tuesday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 518 W. Randolph, Enid, Okla., with the Rev. Dr. John Toles officiating. A viewing was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Pierce Funeral Home in Fairview. Family was present from 6-8 p.m. Saturday evening.
Margie was born July 26, 1936, at Bend, Ore., to parents Ernest and Sophia (Becker) Gibson. She married R. Gene Turrell on April 19, 1959. Margie and Gene lived in many places around the world during Gene’s military career. Margie loved animals and had several special pets that she adored to include her favorite, McQ, a black and white Clydesdale. Margie also had a passion for general aviation airplanes; while she did not get her pilot’s license, she owned two Fixed Base Operations along with her husband, one in Texas and one in Oklahoma.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gene, in 2006. Survivors include her children, son Lennie Turrell of the Philippines, daughter Lynn Turrell of Fairview, Okla., son Lane Turrell of Arizona, and daughter Lois Turrell of Wichita; grandchildren, Kamber Mathews, LaTasha Turrell, Haley Turrell, T.J. Turrell, Jeremy Turrell, Bryan Turrell, Rebecca Turrell, Jennifer Gautieri, Laney Crockett and Kerrigan Turrell; and nine great-grandchildren.
