Mildred ‘Millie’ I. (Hickey) Barbo
Mildred ‘Millie’ I. (Hickey) Barbo passed away Friday, April 24, 2026, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born to William Lauren Hickey and Margaret Marie Best on February 1, 1939, in Two Buttes, Colo.
Millie grew up in Cheney, where she graduated from high school. She married Vic Barbo on June 5, 1964, in Meade, Kan. She worked for Cessna Aircraft and was a bookkeeper for Barbo Well Service. She was a grandma to many and loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished time spent with family, her dogs and NASCAR.
Millie is survived by her children, Kevin Barbo and wife, Debra, of Ulysses, and Victor Barbo of Manhattan; grandchildren, Benjamin, Amanda and Angela; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Lynden, Kamden, Corbin, Patrick, Easton, Mason and Elias; step-daughter, Lorraine Barbo Anderson and Vicki Barbo, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and special caregivers, Juanita De La Pena and Maria Gonzalez.
Millie is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; great-grandson, Brandon Barbo; son-in-law, Max Lee Anderson; and brothers, Gene and William Hickey.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at the Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, with Pastor Larry Borthwick officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 1, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
