Monty A. Ward, 80 of Argonia, Sergeant with the 184th Bomb Group “Flying Jayhawks” in the Kansas Air National Guard, retired farmer passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 24, 2025, in Wichita.

Born on Oct. 10, 1944, in Caldwell, he was the fifth child of Jack and Eilleen (Lebeda) Ward. Monty graduated from Caldwell High School in 1962. On Feb. 18, 1967, Monty and Deidra Hamilton were united in marriage in Caldwell. Two children, Marc Lee Ward and Dionne Rene Wenciker, were born to this union.
Survivors include his children, Marc Lee Ward (Melody) of Wichita, and Dionne Rene Wenciker (Ryan) of Goddard; granddaughters, Kimberlee Skolaski (Devin) of Azle, Texas, Miranda Ward of Wichita, Mikayla Ward of Wichita; grandson, Christopher Ward (Brittany) of College Station, Texas; and four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family available will be held at Cornejo Funeral Home,1030 Mission Rd., Wellington, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24.
Service will be held at Cornejo Funeral Home, 1030 Mission Rd., Wellington, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. Interment will be held at the Argonia Cemetery in Argonia.
