Regina M. Powell, 72, of Viola, formerly of Dodge City, retired office manager, died Sunday, June 1, 2025, at her residence.

Regina was born Feb. 1, 1953 in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Frank Jefferson Adams and Mildred Irene (Kingery) Adams. She grew up in Conway Springs, where she attended Conway Springs public schools. She graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1971.

Regina was united in marriage to Robert Dean Powell, Sr., on Sept. 3, 1971, at the Viola Baptist Church, Viola. They made their first home in Wichita. In December of 1990, the family moved to Dodge City.

Regina was a paraprofessional for USD #443 in Dodge City before working for Jamie’s Cleaners and Laundry. She later became the office manager for Northside Veterinary Clinic until her retirement in the summer of 2015. She and Bob moved back to Viola in 2017.

Regina was a member of the Viola Baptist Church and was an avid gardener and animal lover.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Regina is survived by her husband, Bob Powell; one daughter, Suzanne (Fred) Jones of Lakin; one son, Robert D. Powell, Jr., of Dodge City; bonus daughter, Samantha Schmidt of Wichita; two grandchildren, Cora (Em Vanderbilt White) Jones, and Conor Jones; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Viola Baptist Church, Viola.
