Richard E. Lehner, 89, went peacefully to his heavenly home on Feb. 25, 2025.

Born on the family farm on July 5, 1936, Richard was baptized on Aug. 2, 1936, and confirmed on April 2, 1950, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was a proud United States Army veteran. After serving, he met his devoted spouse of 66 years while both were working at Southwestern Bell in Wichita. He spent the next 32 years working as an operator at the Coastal Derby Refining Company while also farming near Cheney.

Richard will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Ann Roel and husband Tom; son, Scott Lehner and wife Martha; grandchildren Ben (Jamie), Lauren (Michael), Kurt (Sarah), Amanda, Wyatt, and Grant; nine great-grandchildren, Preslie, Rylie, Lanie, Beau, Sam, Charles, Eleonora, Jericho, and Rooney; and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert K. and Martha (Lorenz) Lehner; his brother, Robert L. Lehner; and sister, Kathleen Roberts. He is survived by his twin sisters, Karen Dawber and Sharon Kernes.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cheney. Internment will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, Heartland Hospice, and American Legion Post 295 for the Veterans’ Memorial Wall.
