Thomas Ternes
Thomas A. Ternes, 71, of Wichita, formerly of Conway Springs, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Cheney Golden Age Home, Cheney.
Tom was born May 9, 1951 at Wellington, the son of Jacob Michael Ternes and Frieda Rose (Ast) Ternes. He grew up in Conway Springs, where he attended St. Joseph Catholic School. He graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1969, and continued his education at Wichita State University.
Tom was united in marriage to Judy Catherine Metzen on June 2, 1973, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Wellington. They made their home in Wichita.
Tom began working in sales for Murdock Electric in Wichita. He also worked for Equitable Life Insurance Company as an agent for several years before returning to Murdock Electric. He retired in September 2018.
Tom was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harlan Ternes.
Tom is survived by his wife, Judy Ternes; one son, Craig Ternes (Stacie) of Flower Mound, Texas; four brothers, Philip Ternes (Pam) of Dexter, Mo., Allen Ternes (Pat) of Wichita, Tony Ternes (Anne) of Conway Springs, and Pat Ternes (Lisa) of Conway Springs; five sisters, Karen Struble (Vic) of Conway Springs, Connie Foster (Mike) of Goddard, Janet Bagwell of Sedgwick, Joyce Brown (Don) of Wichita, and Tina Chase of Dexter, Mo.; two granddaughters, Brooklyn and Addison Ternes; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, at St.
Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs, with Father Kyle Dugan as celebrant. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Monday, April 3, also at the church. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conway Springs.
