CONWAY SPRINGS – A new adult baseball team is forming in Conway Springs.

The Wichita Independent Baseball League (WIBL) is a newly forming adult amateur baseball league designed to provide organized baseball opportunities for players throughout Wichita and south-central Kansas. One of four teams currently being planned is the Conway Springs Cardinals, with the other three teams being based out of Wichita and Whitewater.

The WIBL is currently organizing both summer and fall baseball opportunities for adult players.

Planning is already underway for a fall 2026 season.

“The response from players, coaches, volunteers and supporters throughout the region has exceeded expectations,” said Bob Lipp, who is helping promote the new WIBL. “The league’s mission is simple – to bring organized adult baseball back to Wichita and south-central Kansas.”

A coaches and team captains meeting was held this past weekend. Numerous items related to league structure were discussed.

Lipp said interest for a Conway Springs team is still strong, and representatives from the WIBL are hoping to attend the next City Council meeting in Conway Springs to discuss the team’s formation. He said the local team would likely have members from other surrounding communities.

Player eligibility and roster composition is being discussed. League organizers anticipate recommending that a limited number of professional players be permitted on each roster. Many summer professional players seek fall playing opportunities after their seasons conclude.
