The Eisenhower Tigers boys golf team finished second at the Bishop Carroll invitational, played Monday at Auburn Hills Golf Course. Tyler Hardtarfer tied for first place with an 18hole round of 66.
All four boys tennis teams in the TSnews coverage area were at the John Markham Spring Classic tennis tournament in Goddard on Saturday. The best performer among area players was Eisenhower’s Kyle King, who made it to the semifinals and finished fourth out of a large field of competitors.
The defending 2A State champion Garden Plain girls track and field team placed third at the nine-team Pratt Invitational on last Friday. The Owls scored 65 points, finishing one point ahead of the Scott Community Beavers. McPherson, one of the larger schools in the field, was the runaway winner with 166 points, and Rose Hill was second with 77.
TSnews The Cheney Cardinals baseball team ran into a roadblock to open this week when the Cardinals dropped a pair of contests at Haven. The Wildcats rallied to win the opener 8-6 and took the nightcap 3-0.
The Goddard Lions girls soccer team escaped with a 2-2 tie after the Hutchinson Salthawks gave up a penalty kick in the game’s final minutes of regulation, at home on April 2. The Lions took an early lead, but Hutchinson found an equalizer just before halftime, according to head coach Josh Hansen.
TSnews The Campus Colts softball team turned in perhaps its best week of the season as it swept a pair of doubleheaders. Campus downed Andover Central 9-4 and 7-6, respectively, last Tuesday, then took two from Arkansas City last Friday, 12-5 and 14-1.
The Campus girls swimming and diving team placed third in last week’s 11-team home meet. Derby (412.5) and Wichita Heights (336) took the first two spots.
The Clearwater girls placed third in the sixteam Valley Center Invitational on April 4, and the boys came in fifth. The Indians had several top performances.
TSnews The Campus Colts and Goddard Lions were among the team’s at the Eisenhower Tigers’ season- opening participation meet on April 1. All three schools saw some good performances to begin the season.
TSnews The Campus Colts girls soccer team hosted the Eisenhower Tigers at the home field of their co-op partner, Clearwater High School, last Thursday. The Tigers got the better of the matchup, winning 9-1.
