Raneé Marie Phye came into this world on Oct. 29,1946, in Riley, Kan., to Alwin and Roberta (Heintz) Trumpp. She joined her heavenly father on July 10, 2025, after a brief but fierce battle with cancer.

She spent her childhood in Kansas and Iowa, and married Jerry Graves in 1964. To this union two children were born, Scot and Fonda. In 1992, Raneé married Larry Phye and gained two more children, Tamara and Bryant.

Raneé spent the majority of her working years in the Kansas public school system as a business manager, payroll clerk and bookkeeper, first in Randolph, and then in Goddard. She and Larry, along with their beloved standard poodle Magic, enjoyed many years of traveling across the country with the Camping Squares, where they formed lifelong friendships with fellow square-dancing campers.

Raneé’s love for horses eventually took priority over dancing, and the next many years she enjoyed trail riding with special friends atop her gentle Arabian, Bou, while Larry served as camp cook for the riders. Meeting in Yoder with aunts, uncles and cousins was a special event they enjoyed over the years.

In 2020, they moved to Santa Marta Retirement Community, where they formed even more friendships. Raneé knew everyone, and everyone knew her. She revamped the community library and started a line-dancing class that had a devoted following.

Raneé was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Scot Graves; sister, Marsha Jones and brother-in-law, Gordon Jones; brother, Terry Scott and sister-in-law, Nance Scott; and sister, Carol Grube. She is survived by her, husband Larry; daughter, Fonda Jordan (Fred); stepdaughter, Tamara Davis (Lloyd), and stepson Bryant Phye (Vanessa); grandchildren, Brooklyn Thrasher, Kalyn Graves (Dylan Collier), Austin Davis (Kristin), AlexMarie Gomez (Adrian), Jasmyn Thole (Hunter), Parker Davis (Katrina), and Mason Phye; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Jolinda (Bruce) Ernst, Teresa Trumpp, and Pamela (Scott) Fields; brothers, Mike (Tish) Trumpp, Dana (Laura) Trumpp, Corey (Janet) Trumpp, and Paul (Rita) Scott; 34 nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
