Donald Paul Shobe
Donald Paul Shobe passed away at the age of 89 on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Dove Estates Senior Living Community in Goddard.
Donald was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Conway Springs, the youngest child of Paul Shobe and Ethel (Prilliman) Shobe. He grew up in the Conway Springs community, where he attended rural school before attending Conway Springs public schools. He graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1954.
Don was united in marriage to Jean Marie May on Nov. 14, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs. They made their home in Conway Springs, where they raised their family of four children. They built their new home north of town in 1976.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway Springs.
Don was a farmer most of his life. He also established his own construction company, known as Don Shobe Builder. He retired in December 2000. He and Jean moved to Dove Estates in Goddard in the spring of 2025.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Betty Ravenstien, Connie Hartman and Charlotte Himes.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jean Shobe; one son, Kevin Shobe (Sarah) of Wichita; three daughters, Tina Andra (Mike) of Wichita, Michelle Becker (Jim) of Ponca City, Okla., and Dawn Shobe of Broomfield, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Chad Andra (Jennifer) of Conway Springs, Jarrod Andra of Wichita, Aaron Andra of Naples, Fla., Merritt Ortiz (Juan) and Morgan Shobe of Wichita, Serenity Becker, Shane Becker (Amy), Donovan Becker, and Shelly Rodriguez (David) of Ponca City, Camron Finnefrock, Colton Finnefrock, and Lexi Finnefrock of Broomfield; 16 great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 28, and funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, both at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Clonmel, with Father Kyle Dugan as celebrant and Father Thomas Hoisington as concelebrant. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conway Springs.
