Boil orders issued for Garden Plain, Cheney State Park Marina

On Friday morning, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued boil orders for the City of Garden Plain and for the Cheney State Park Marina public water supply, which is supplied by the City of Garden Plain water system.

Customers should observe the following precautions until further notice:

• Boil water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation or use bottled water.

• Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker.

Cheney police officer arrested on rape charge

CHENEY – A police officer was arrested earlier this week after being accused of rape.

Cheney Police Chief Ken Winter confirmed that Officer Grant Cook was arrested on Tuesday following an interview with Sedgwick County Sheriff's investigators.

Winter said the victim reported to a full-time Cheney police officer on Monday. He was notified a short time after.

“We brought in the officer who was accused,” Winter said.
