CHENEY – Emergency personnel responded to a house fire in Cheney Sunday night. There were no significant injuries but the house was a total loss, according to Cheney Fire Chief Jerry Pietz.
GODDARD – Brad Cline of Goddard High School is the winner of the Goddard Education Association Teacher of the Year Award. Cline recently completed his 35th year in education, all of his years at Goddard.
TSnews HAYSVILLE – Mayor Russ Kessler on Monday presented a Mayor’s Certificate of Recognition to a Haysville youth who went into action to save a friend in a recent boating accident. This was the first order of business at the monthly city council meeting.
The Goddard Public Library is getting a new carpet. In order to make this process go much faster and to ensure the safety of staff and patrons, the library will need to be closed for two weeks.
CHENEY – During last week's monthly meeting, the Cheney City Council approved a pair of sidewalk projects. Council members voted 5-0 to accept the low bid of $17,901 from South Central Sealing to pour a 6-foot wide sidewalk on the east edge of the Cheney Sports Complex property.
GODDARD – Members of the Goddard Chamber of Commerce gathered last Thursday at Pathway Church for their monthly meeting. Members heard updates on the SummerBall Showdown, which will be played again later this summer at the Genesis Sports Complex.
GODDARD – Several new faces are expected to be on the Wichita City Council next year, as two of three incumbents seek other offices. But one possible new face is a familiar one to longtime Goddard residents.
TSnews CHENEY – A singer’s gender identity as non-binary and an upcoming performance at next month’s Sedgwick County Fair became an online controversy over the weekend. The Fair made social media posts at the end of the week promoting all of the upcoming concerts planned for the Fair, which is set to take place July 12-15 at the Sedgwick County Fairgrounds in Cheney.
CLEARWATER – SKT, a Clearwater- based company, was acquired by Twin Valley in April 2021, bringing together the two largest independently owned broadband and communications companies in Kansas. SKT is undergoing a rebrand to Twin Valley, which will be complete later this year.
