HAYSVILLE – Permits are now on sale for next weekend's 43rd annual citywide garage sales, to be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 12-13.

GODDARD – A new phone application is helping Goddard Public Schools connect with students, families and the community at large. The app quietly went live in early July, and the district very recently announced the app so that people can download it.

CALDWELL – The Sumner County Fair takes place this Thursday through Sunday in Caldwell. This year’s theme is “Rock ‘N Roll to the 2023 Sumner County Fair” and it celebrates 96 years of the Sumner County Fair.

Eight candidates are moving through to the November general election for the USD 268 Cheney Board of Education. Thirteen candidates were on the ballot on Tuesday.

CHENEY – The Cheney Saddle Club is hosting the second annual Bull Jam on Saturday night. The Bull Jam will start at 7 p.m., and will take place at the rodeo arena on the south end of the Sedgwick County Fairgrounds on Main Street in Cheney.

CLEARWATER – A new 5-kilometer race will be held in conjunction with the Clearwater Fall Festival. The Chisholm Trail Trot 5K will take place at 8 a.m.

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – At one point midday Saturday, more than 50 people stood in line in the Hired Man’s Grocery & Grill parking lot, waiting to win a prize from the visiting Frankfurters who drive one of the Frankmobiles – formerly known as the Wienermobiles – around the country. Nearby stood a giant cow from Hiland Dairy.

HAYSVILLE – A Haysville man pleaded guilty to money laundering in connection with a federal relief program designed to help United States business owners during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to court documents, Timothy Dale Warren, 59, served as owner of Titan Medical Center, which offered chiropractic care, school sports physicals and other services in Wichita.

TSnews GODDARD – There are a lot of Stroot Lockers customers who may feel the long-time business has the best meat in the state, and maybe even the country. There is some truth to that, as Stroot Lockers recently was named grand champion in the heavyweight bacon category in the annual American Cured Meat Championship Award, hosted by the American Association of Meat Processors.
